We offer half-day, one-day or two-day media training courses on effective media relations and media interviews to leverage the opportunities in the fast moving media landscape.

Our trainers bring real-world experience as former BBC journalists and corporate communications experts to ensure you get the knowledge and skills to better understand the media, develop effective strategies or prepare for the most challenging of interviews.

 

MEDIA RELATIONS

This course will enable you to:

  • Generate positive media coverage and increase visibility
  • Know how to brief designated spokespeople
  • Gain greater control of how your company/organisation is represented in the media
  • Identify opportunities to place written and multi-media content
  • Build and sustain long-term media relations

You will learn:

crafting messages, effective storytelling writing for social media, pitching to the media, organising press briefings, understanding the rules of engagement and handling negative coverage.

MEDIA INTERVIEWS

This course will enable you to:

  • Understand how the media operates and what journalists want
  • Craft memorable messages
  • Present complex information clearly and concisely
  • Keep the audience’s attention
  • Master talking to the media with conviction
  • Take control in an interview situation
  • Be an effective spokesperson

You will learn:

what makes a good spokesperson, preparing for an interview, thinking like a journalist, mastering sound bites and quotes, using your voice and body language effectively, analysis of good and bad broadcast interviews, handling hostile questions.

You will get plenty of opportunity to practice in front of a camera or on mike. Our trainers provide individual feedback and follow-up recommendations to help you feel at ease and confident the next time you give a media interview.

We can hire a professional cameraman or host the training in a TV or radio studio, if relevant.

The course is limited to six people. For larger groups, we have a team of ex-BBC journalists experienced in training together.

We run coaching sessions for people who wish to prepare for a specific interview or event.
